Sharice Davids makes her first bold political move — and mistake

Kansas 3rd Congressional District Rep. Sharice Davids criticized the Trump Administration’s move to allow faith-based adoption by groups such as the Catholic Church which don’t allow for same-sex couples to adopt through their organization.

And Davids went even further, asking the rest of the Kansas Congressional delegation — Senators Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran and Reps Roger Marshall, Ron Estes and Steve Watkins — to join her in her criticism.

They declined.

Their point: Everyone who Sharice Davids wants to be able to adopt, and they agencies they use, STILL get to do so. There’s no change there.

By the Trump Admin’s new policy, there will be MORE groups and agencies involved in adopting children. That’s it. That’s the story.

Davids, who is openly gay, argues that this is a bad thing.

But if the end result is more children with loving parents, how can that be bad?

Well, because Davids thinks everyone, including the Catholic Church must conform to her worldview, or they get frozen out of every other institution. We saw this a few months ago when erstwhile Presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke proclaimed that churches which did not recognize gay marriage should get their tax-exempt status revoked.

One wonders what Davids position is on that, and why it would be any different than her adoption-opposition.

And politically, Davids just gave her opponents a new round of ads and mailers.

Davids has been walking the line between hard-core Democrat and moderate back-bencher since she took her Congressional seat. She didn’t want to be associated with the lunatic ideas that O’Rourke, Elizabeth Warren and others have been tossing around: confiscate guns at gun-point; take away your private insurance; begin a wealth-tax.

But now? Look for Davids’ opponents Amanda Adkins and Sara Hart Weir to hit this point over and over to the suburban church-goers:

Sharice Davids thinks your church should be excluded from everyday life, especially adoption.

And Davids has nowhere to hide on this. The simple fact is groups like the Catholics would be encouraging more adoption; Sharice Davids, by her stance, wants fewer adoptions.

That’s it. That’s the story.

And that’s what you get with Leftists. Conform to their worldview or you’re out.

Now Davids’ grip on the suburban moms just got a little less firm.

Look for more to come.
